Rod Stewart Suggests Joint Faces and Jeff Beck Group Reunion Tour

(Radio.com) For years, surviving members of the Faces (guitarist Ron Wood, keyboardist Ian McLagan and drummer Kenney Jones) have been hoping for Rod Stewart to sign on for a reunion tour. In the meantime, they've done shows with Simply Red singer Mick Hucknall filling in for their iconic frontman. But in a new interview with Billboard, Stewart suggested doing a joint reunion tour where he and Wood would perform one set with the Faces, and another with the Jeff Beck Group.

But he says that he doesn't expect that Jeff Beck would be interested: apparently their planned reunion album from a few years back fell apart, and things didn't end on great terms.

"When Jeff's angry at you, he stays angry for a long time," he said. "We were going to do a blues album a modern sort of Beck-Ola, maybe, but we couldn't agree on a great many things. I sent him a Christmas card, or e-mailed him a Christmas card, the year before last and never heard anything back."

He notes that there's a better chances of a Faces tour, but they have to work around Wood's schedule with the Rolling Stones. Stewart may be forgetting a few things here, namely that the guys from the Faces have been hoping for a reunion for quite some time but they've been waiting for the singer to sign on.

McLagan told Radio.com, "I shouldn't say [Stewart is] not gonna do it, it's just that every time he said he would [do it], he never does. Never say never, but Jesus Christ! I don't think he's gonna do it. It's like a girlfriend who you take out on a date and then you never hear from again. Whatever he wants to do, we're ready."

And as Kenney Jones told us in 2012, "As long as his manager is booking him out two years in advance, it doesn't stand a chance." And, indeed, Stewart has just signed a deal extending his Vegas residency for two more years.

As for mending fences with Jeff Beck, he may not have helped matters by suggesting that his famously temperamental former boss co-headline with the band that Stewart and Wood left him for; that might not go over well. Find out what Rod has against Black Sabbath
