(Radio.com) George Strait announced the first leg of his final tour ever, the aptly-titled The Cowboy Rides Away Tour, last September. Yesterday (September 9), Strait revealed the final dates of the two-year jaunt via live press conference streamed on his website and YouTube.

The last leg of the tour kicks off January 9 in Bossier City, Louisiana, and ends in Dallas on a TBD date (full list of dates below). The 26 new dates will feature big guests each night, including Jason Aldean, Eric Church, Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride, Sheryl Crow, Ronnie Dunn, Vince Gill, Merle Haggard, Lee Ann Womack, Little Big Town, Chris Young and more.

Though this jaunt has been framed as his big farewell tour, Strait said his music career is far from over. Not only has he been writing songs, Striaght promises a five-album deal with his label MCA Nashville.

"I am excited about the tour next year," he said at the press conference. "It's going to be a little bittersweet for me. It's starting to sink in for me after the first leg of the tour. It'll be a little tough next year saying goodbye to some of those places. My plan is to keep doing things here and there when I feel like it and hopefully those opportunities will come for me. I can't see hanging it up forever. As long as I keep enjoying it, I'm going to keep doing it."

Strait went on to admit that his one regret throughout his career is that he quit writing.

"Starting out, I loved to write and wrote a lot and then I got away from it, " he said. "I found great songs from great songwriters in Nashville. Now I'm getting into it a lot more and enjoying that, writing with my son. It's a lot of fun." more on this story
