Kenny Rogers Talks Dolly Parton, Miley Cyrus Controversy and More
. We were sent over the following excerpts. On handling fame Rogers: "I look at Lindsay Lohan out therewhat happens is, the big fear in this business is not being recognizedlook at Miley Cyrus and what she's doing now. Is it going to work? It's going to get her some press. In LA, any press is good press. They're talking about it. Not for me. I don't need that kind of stuff and I think it's a sad mistake. And I think people have to be careful. You have to live with it, more so now than ever before. Anything you do now is going to be around forever. It's just dangerous." On whether he was ever in love with Dolly Rogers: "I've always been in love with Dolly, in a very safe placeit's hard to really know her and not love her because she's the most unpretentious person I've ever met. I've said it before, and I'm not sure she likes it when I say this, she has no filter. If it goes through her mind, it comes out her mouth. And she can say things to people no one else can say and somehow it's a complimentShe's just always been that way. She's always been very straightforward. People say 'is Dolly as sweet in person as she is?' and I always tell them 'if you like her on TV, you will love her in person because she's that and more.'" On competing in the Country music landscape Rogers: "There's only two ways I can compete. I can do what everybody else is doing and do it better. And I don't like my chances of doing that. Or I can do something nobody else is doing and you don't invite comparisonSo I've always kinda been outside the box cause I can't do the things Keith Urban does or Taylor Swift or those guys, so I just have to do what I do."
