One Direction Releasing New Single and Video This Week

. (Radio.com) One Direction's "Story of My Life" has been near-escapable on pop radio over the past few months, but at the twilight of the song's reign, the band is gearing up to release a new single.

"You and I," from most recent album Midnight Memories, will be the newest single for One Direction, the band revealed today. The song, penned by Julian Bunetta, Jamie Scott and John Ryan - all writers associated with "Story of My Life" and other tunes off the new record - is already a fan-favorite, and has climbed multiple charts across the world, including those in the U.K. and Sweden.

A music video for the song will see an official release on April 18. The clip is directed by Ben Winston, a frequent collaborator with the boy band who also helmed videos for "Story of My Life," "Best Song Ever" and their concert film This is Us.

The ballad, which features the group mostly singing with little more than acoustic guitar accompaniment at first before launching into a fuller sound by its end, has also been remixed by band member Liam Payne. A snippet of the Big Payno remix can be found here.
