The Enid Unleash Witch Hunt Video

(Prog) The Enid spin a tale of murderous persecution, hysteria and horrifying self-realization in their video for Witch Hunt. It's taken from 2012 album Invicta, the symphonic prog outfit's first album with acclaimed young frontman Joe Payne - who's also the first person to take the role since the earliest days of Robert John Godfrey's brainchild.

Payne says: "Witch Hunt is by far the most collaborative piece on Invicta. Ask me who led the vision of any piece on the album and I can tell you - but not Witch Hunt. This piece is special to us because it grew from the hearts of everyone in the band.

"The album came together while the UK was hosting the 2012 Olympics. We began to see the tabloid press embark on witch-hunts, looking for people to persecute. We had a nation who were in a deeply emotional state, celebrating those who were representing their country and displaying collectivist behaviour."

Of the video he explains: "It couldn't just be about hunting witches - that would be too obvious. The message here is that we fear our own demons enough to suppress them, persecuting them rather than accepting them. The three witches in this film each represent a traumatic moment from the lead character's past. In the end he is faced with the realisation that he was in fact persecuting the shame that existed within him."
