ScHoolboy Q Releases NSFW 'Studio' Video
The thing saving this NSFW video is the cinematography. First of all, black and white completely classes the joint up. Those shots of the rapper at the window while lights twinkle behind him would have been pretty in color, but are so much more morose without. And everything with the lady writhing around in her bed alone could have really gone too porn-y in color, but captures a certain lonely neediness without.
The way the camera lingers on both of them, with long panning shots, is the atmosphere this record needs to push it from predictable to art. Even the Beats commercial that kicks it off is almost elegantly placed. It could have been a little less forced without the voice over, but is certainly fitting.
