Bono, Carrie Underwood, Vince Gill on Michael W. Smith's Christmas CD

. Christian music star Michael W. Smith has announced that he will be releasing an all-star guest filled Christmas album featuring a who's who of country and pop music.

The new album, dubbed Michael W. Smith & Friends: The Spirit of Christmas, is scheduled to be released on September 30th and will include an appearance from U2 frontman Bono.

Smith also recruited an all-star roster of country music stars for the album including Carrie Underwood, Vince Gill, Lady Antebellum, Martina McBride, Jennifer Nettles and Little Big Town.

Other guest stars include Christian music star Amy Grant and former Doobie Brothers singer Michael McDonald. Smith and guests are backed on the album by the London Symphony Orchestra, featuring arrangements by David Hamilton. Hamilton, Smith and Robert Deaton co-produced the album.
