The Cash family worked the land as cotton farmers. At night they would gather around the piano singing gospel songs. That original piano is now on display in the refurbished home.

"We've got everything just as it was," said Johnny's sister Joanne Cash, 76, in an interview with the New York Times. "It took a lot of hard work. It's been very emotional for me." All the items in the house have been approved by Johnny's siblings Tommy and Joanne.
