(The Blues) Derek Trucks has revealed he'd been trying to quit the Allman Brothers Band for years, before finally confirming he'd make the break at the end of 2014.

His decision, alongside that of fellow guitarist Warren Haynes, appears to have brought about the end of the band's career on their 45th anniversary, with leader Gregg Allman confirming: "This is it - this is the end."

Trucks tells Rolling Stone: "I've been talking about it for years: not wanting to be on the road 300 days a year with kids growing up." But he adds: "There's so much love and loyalty for the band and music that it's a tough call to make. I've given my half-resignation many years in a row. This year it was known that this was going to be it." more on this story
