Lil Wayne's Tha Carter V Release Date Revealed?

02/17/2014
.
Drake continues to make headlines. Now he is making headlines for Lil Wayne, revealing that the anticipated 5th album in the Tha Carter series will be released on May 5, 2014.

Drake got fans excited last week when he Tweeted the words "Carter V" leading to speculation that the album was coming and then this weekend he revealed a May 5th release date during his set at the New Orleans' House of Blues as part of kickoff festivities for the NBA All-Star weekend, according to MTV.

However, MTV also points out that the leaked date from Drake appears to contradict what Cash Money Records Vice President of Promotion Mel Smith told The Griffin in an article that was published last Thursday (Feb. 13) about Wayne wanting to break the big news to fans.

"We're very close to dropping the album," Smith told the site. He added: "It's going to be a huge surprise to everyone; it's an incredible album. ... I can't release the date because [Wayne] wants to surprise people; he wants his true fanbase to get excited but he's worked extremely hard on it and you won't be disappointed."
