Today former White Wizzard guitarist Will Wallner tells us about "" which is the first song released from and the title track the forthcoming Will Wallner & Vivien Vain album that will be released in May. Here is the story:

This was the first song we wrote for the new album. I wanted to write something simple with a guitar melody as its main theme. The song initially had very busy rhythm guitars but after hearing Bjorn Englen's bass lines I simplified my guitar parts so they wouldn't detract from his playing. He plays a lot of lead licks mixed into to his bass lines so by simplifying my guitars I allowed him to take almost the 'lead position' in the arrangement. The middle section I ripped off from the main soundtrack to the science fiction film 'Dune'.

At first there was just music and no title or idea of what the lyrics would be about. We played around with a few ideas until we decided that one of the main themes of the album should be 'The Wars Of The Roses'. 'The Battle Of Clyst Heat' was a very minor battle but took happened close to where I grew up in Devon, England. The battle took place in 1455 between two of the main forces of the region and afterwards the loser was be-headed! The song ended up with a pretty dark feel particularly in the solo section. Those guitar solos were improvised on the spot except for main theme and the 'Dune' rip-off.

We wanted to put this song out first as a taster but there's a really a lot of different styles and themes on this album. I would call this song a bit 'generic' compared to the other material. It's a simple hard rock song without too many layers or over produced tracks. It's very raw which is just the way I like it!

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself right here!
