(Radio.com) After staging huge and wildly successful stadium shows in Dublin, Ireland in 1997, Garth Brooks is returning to the same venue this summer. On Monday (Jan. 20), Brooks announced he will play two concerts, July 25 and 26, at Dublin's Croke Park.

The shows take place in advance of Brooks' previously announced world tour, which is slated to begin later this year. The two Ireland concerts are being dubbed the Garth Brooks Comeback Special Event.

"Before we go back on tour in the Fall of 2014, I want to challenge myself, the band, and crew," Brooks said in a statement posted on his website. "In '97, we were lucky enough to play Croke Park, the stadium was under construction. 130,000+ of some of the greatest fans in the world.

"I was quoted then as saying 'When this stadium is finished, I would love to come back and try to fill it again…this time to the brink.'…and we're back to do just that." more on this story
