I remember being in Bloomington Indiana, i was on tour with Mumford and Sons in 2010�. We had a day off, and were all really excited about playing some soccer. But the weather was awful, sooo much rain� Anyways, we'll take soccer anyway we can get it so we played in the rain ha.. And that night back at the hotel, i was sharing a room with Ben but couldn't sleep so I set up camp in the bathroom, and started writing this song. I remember playing it at the show the next day, at the bluebird, even though it wasn't really finished and i was reading lyrics. ha. The rain still pouring outside, and the tornado sirens blaring. It was later that tour we were in Telluride for the bluegrass festival, I finished it up there, i seem to remember..

Anyways, its a special song for me as it was just the story of how i met someone who became so special in my life. I felt like it made for a good story just cause the circumstances were so unusual...

It wasn't in real time as it were, but a retrospective look at how, i had met that person, and even throughout my awkward, clumsiness in romance, things had managed to work out.

The chorus' just represented my feelings for her, and how much she meant to me�. It seemed kinda timelessly romantic, to just simplify it all down to i would do anything to share my life with you. The verses are just an accurate tale of the events , surrounding both how and were we met but also some of our first encounters. I guess I felt in some way like I wanted to apologize maybe, or maybe just explain how I felt then, because I couldn't say it at the time. And then by the last verse, I guess it skipped to present day, and just my happiness for how we had got to there despite everything, and as a result of some very unlikely events coinciding..

That song means a lot to me and always will, it was a very happy time. We are still very close friends now, and i miss her and will love her always.
