Diplo Reveals Madonna Remix

(Radio.com) It's no secret that DJ/producer Diplo spent some quality time in the studio with Madonna working on her upcoming album. During a recent appearance on influential British DJ Annie Mac's TV show, Superstar DJs, however, Diplo revealed an exclusive dub plate remix of Madonna's 1987 hit, "La Isla Bonita," so hot it blew the sunglasses right off Mac's head.

Prefacing the big reveal by admitting that "this took a long conversation to get this to work," Diplo played the remix, which features Madonna herself re-singing the song's opening line ("Last night I dreamt of San Pedro") to mention Major Lazer, Diplo's famous EDM dancehall act. Mac demonstrative reaction to the exclusive dub is too fun to miss.

"That's why I work with all these big artists," Diplo joked afterward. "Not to even have hits, just to get dub plates, so I can play them once for Annie Mac."

In DJ jargon, a dubplate is an exclusive remix (traditionally in the world of reggae and dancehall music) that features a vocalist contributing unique lyrics which generally mention the artist or DJ producing the track. Diplo landing Madonna for a Major Lazer dub of "La Isla Bonita" is a serious power move for the in-demand producer, who recently talked about his experience working with the pop legend on songs for her new album.
