. A new digitally restored version of the much-lauded musical comedy hit screens nationwide over the Fourth of July weekend. Directed by Richard Lester, the original movie was shot with a production budget of just $500,000, and went on to gross more than $12 million. According to the Los Angeles Times, Janus Films hired producer Giles Martin-son of Sir George Martin-to remix and remaster the soundtrack at Abbey Road Studios, for 5.1 sound systems.
