Taj Mahal Planning New Album

(The Blues) Taj Mahal is planning to record what will be his 26th album - six years after he last released an LP. The follow-up to 2008's Maestro is due for launch before the end of 2014, by which time the veteran bluesman will be 72.

But that doesn't mean he's thinking of taking any easy options. Mahal tells Commercial Appeal: "There's going to be some interesting music, some changes in things, to shake everybody up."

His most recent recording venture was laying down a track for a documentary series made by Jack White, T Bone Burnett and Robert Redford. He was filmed using Western Electric equipment from the early 20th century, just like the early blues greats did. more on this story
