Banks Covers Aaliyah's 'Are You That Somebody?'

(Radio.com) In things that make almost too much sense, Banks covered Aaliyah. But adding a little twist, the singer covered Aaliyah's 1998 hit, "Are You That Somebody?" off the Dr. Doolittle soundtrack yesterday for BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge.

While the original song is highlighted by Timbaland's signature production, this stripped down take highlights Banks' soulful delivery. On the sexy R&B jam, she takes the lower register to promise, "You know that one of these days/We gone hook it up/Probably talk from the phone/But see I don't know if that's good."

On the radio show, Banks also pulled out an acoustic version of her latest single, the Shlomo-produced track "Brain," which gives fans a taste of the moody, seductive sound they can expect on her upcoming debut.
