Gregg Allman Misses Beacon Theatre Shows Due To Illness

(The Blues) Gregg Allman has been forced to sit out two shows of the Allman Brothers Band's final residency at New York's Beacon Theatre. An attack of bronchitis meant Allman was unable to appear on Friday night, and he was replaced by guest performers Kofi Burbridge and Rob Barraco. He then missed Saturday's concert too.

A brief statement explained: "Due to illness, Gregg will be unable to perform. The band will perform as scheduled. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. All remaining shows will go on as scheduled."

The run of shows has become a tradition with the outfit, but will come to an end when they split at the end of the year, following the upcoming departure of guitarists Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks. more on this story
