Eric Clapton Leads J.J. Cale Tribute Album

(Radio.com) Eric Clapton has often given props to the late, laid-back roots-rock guitarist/singer/songwriter J.J. Cale. Clapton scored some of the biggest hit singles of his solo career with covers of Cale's "After Midnight" and "Cocaine." In 2006, the duo released an album together, The Road to Escondido.

Now, nearly a year after Cale's passing at age 74, Clapton has announced that he's putting out an all-star tribute to the man. The album will be named
"The Breeze, An Appreciation of J.J. Cale" and is credited to "Eric Clapton & Friends".

The album will feature guest appearances by a cast of major stars, including former Dire Straits leader Mark Knopfler, John Mayer, Willie Nelson, Tom Petty and soon-to-be-former-Allman-Brothers-Band-member Derek Trucks. more on this story
