(Radio.com) Could Jay Z have been sent to jail in the late-'80s on an attempted murder charge? That's what Calvin "Klein" Bacote, a former associate of the rapper, is saying in a new interview with VLADTV. According to Bacote, the duo had been at a party that turned violent, causing both to be charged with attempted murder and more.

"We were at a party, mayhem just broke out crazy," Bacote said. "Jay and I wound up being the ones to get caught. We actually got locked up, charged with attempted murder, attempted murder to maim, battery assault, and possession of a deadly weapon."

However, Bacote, a legend on the streets of Brooklyn, took the fall for the incident, paying $50,000 to have the charges dropped against the rapper because of Jay's budding rap opportunities; the person bringing the charges would only allow for one of the two to have their charges dropped in a behind-the-scenes deal.

"Keep in mind Jay would have lost his moment of opportunity," he said. "He and I both would have been sitting in there doing more than 10 years." more on this story
