Lee Ann Womack Reveals Rootsy New Song 'The Way I'm Livin"
. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal's Speakeasy, where she premiered the track, Womack said she wanted to perform the song the moment she heard it. "It was so raw, and real, and, well, unrepentant," she said. "Real roots music, whether it's country or bluegrass, the blues, even rock, is about hitting a nerve. You can't not react. It's not an easy thing to do, but man, this song hit me the first time I heard it, and it hits me every time I sing it, hear it or even think about it." The song was written by Adam Wright, and it showcases Womack's familiar vocals alongside haunting guitar and string features. The Way I'm Livin' is due out Sept. 23 on Womack's new label, Sugar Hill Records/Welk Music. Womack explained that on this release it was important for her to showcase how everyday life is. "I wanted songs that talked about how life really is, the raw spots, the tough places, the meltdowns and messy parts," Womack said in a press release. "Hard, sad, roughall the stuff people pretend doesn't exist! Because once you embrace that, you can figure out what to do; or not do!" Listen to the new song here.
