Iron Maiden Singer Wants To Avoid Gwyneth Paltrow Friendly Festival

Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson explained to James Cabooter of The Daily Star why the band have opted to take part in the Sonisphere festival and not Glastonbury.

"Personally I have no interest in going to Glastonbury," he said. "In the days when Glasto was an alternative festival it was quite interesting. Now it's the most bourgeois thing on the planet. Anywhere Gwyneth Paltrow goes and you can live in an air-conditioned yurt is not for me."

He then went on to explain just how mainstream he views Glastonbury. "The fact that the BBC sends thousands to film it, whereas they can't be a***d to turn up to Sonisphere or Download with a camper van and a hand-held says it all to me," he said.

"We'll leave the middle classes to do Glastonbury and the rest of the great unwashed will decamp to Knebworth and drink lot of beer and have fun."

He had a lot more to say about other festival experiences, Iron Maiden's signature beer and more here.
