(Radio.com) Taylor Swift went pop and the world seemed to follow. Buying up her albums like it was 1989 or at least 2002. In its first week, Swift's fifth album 1989 reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 200 by selling over a million copies - 1.287 million, to be exact.

Swift is the first artist who released an album in 2014 to hit this milestone. Coldplay, the second highest-selling release, sold 745,000 its first week. Swift also earned herself the largest sales week for an album since June 2, 2002 when Eminem's The Eminem Show sold 1.322 million in its second week at No. 1, according to Nielsen SoundScan (via Billboard).

After just one week though, Swift has the second largest selling album of 2014, behind only the Frozen soundtrack, which has sold 3.2 million this year and 3.5 million total since its release in Nov. 2013. These are the only two albums to sell a million in 2014.
