Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding Release Outside Video
. This time, they're a pair of Brits in dysfunctional relationships surrounded by some very sci-fi turns of event. In "Outside," Harris and Goulding play two halves of two different relationships that are not going well: there is fighting, there is shouting, there is the throwing of objects. The costuming, makeup and even set design are meant to lead us to believe they are chavs, lower class and rather uncool Brits. The reason this stereotype is invoked is unclear because the director, frequent Harris collaborator Emil Nava, takes things in the direction of special effects with implied sci-fi origins - as is frequently his style. Basically, stuff (dishes, a motorbike, Goulding herself) hangs in the air for no reason, a la one of the visual payoffs in Super 8. Is it aliens? Are Goulding and Harris doing this with their minds because their bad relationships are putting them into an altered, higher mental state? Or could this be the personification of being on the "outside" of society? Watch it here. Radio.com is an official news provider for antiMusic.com.
