(Radio.com) One Direction's Zayn Malik would like his fans to know that there is absolutely no truth to the "rumors" that he has a substance abuse problem. Zayn spoke out Tuesday (Nov. 18) after missing One Direction's performance on The Today Show yesterday, which was the boy band's second public appearance in which Zayn was M.I.A. He was also notably absent from the MTV EMAs. Though, was seen at the recording of the recent Band Aid 30 charity single, "Do They Know It's Christmas?"

The no-show was simply shrugged off by fellow 1D-er Liam Payne, who said "[Zayn's] got a tummy bug so he's not very well at the moment. We only found out this morning, so we're really sad, he is as well, that he can't be here for our album release."

Today Show host Matt Lauer though decided to push things a little by asking if his absence had anything to do with a substance abuse problem. Some may remember Zayn was allegedly smoking pot in a video earlier this year.

Zayn's bandmates brushed off any allegations and now the singer has released his own statement to The Sun (via New York Daily News) explaining, "I'm really angry and upset by what was said. I was really ill at the weekend, that's why I couldn't fly to America." Read more here.
