Musgraves opened up about her writing process for the second album, admitting, "I didn't really find it hard to find much to say. That's probably just the nature of me."

She told Cosmo that the driving force for songwriting inspiration tends to be what she's currently going through. "A lot of times, I'll be having an argument or a conversation with someone, and I'm like, 'Oh, that's a lyric!' Then I think, 'Focus back on the conversation,'" she admitted. "Or it's stuff my parents, sister, or friends have gone through. I could see a sign and think, 'Oh, that's an interesting perspective.'" Read more - here.
