Scott Weiland Gives Fans First Listen To His 'New Sound'
. Scott Weiland says that he will present fans with a new sound on Blaster, the debut album from Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts, which is set to be released on March 31st. The former Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver frontman discussed the album in a video interview that was posted on YouTube late last week. In describing what fans can expect sonically from the new album, he said, "It's a new sound, but, then again, it's got some big rock riffs, so it'll remind you of the energy of the past." Fans are getting an early taste of that "new sound" with the release of the album's first single "Way She Moves", which Ultimate Classic Rock compares to the sound of the T. Rex classic "Bang On Gong (Get It On)". You can listen to the track here. He also discussed the song "Circles" which goes in a different musical direction. "It's got a sort of Appalachia, bluegrass kind of vibe to it," Weiland explained. "It's a beautiful, melodic song." Weiland says that a lot of songs on the album will tell stories. "If you look at some of the best lyrics in rock 'n' roll -- Bob Dylan -- most of the stuff was stories that he wrote about. Experiences of fictitious people, that's kind of what I did on a lot of these songs." Watch the interview here.
