Lil Wayne Takes Legal Action Against Cash Money
. Lil Wayne is reportedly taking his battle with his longtime label Cash Money Records from social media into the courts by filing a lawsuit to end his contract, according to gossip site TMZ. They report that they obtained the lawsuit filed by the rap star, who they say is suing the label for $51 million and seeking to void his obligations to the record label because he claims that they have violated his contract with them by withholding tens of millions of dollars that they owe him for his album "Tha Carter V." The album release has been repeatedly delayed with no solid release plans revealed publicly. The site also reports that Wayne is asking that the court deem that he is the joint copyright owner of recordings released by the Young Money label which has put out music by Drake and Nicki Minaj among others. TMZ's report goes on to state that unnamed "sources connected to Wayne" told them that Wayne was supposed to receive a $8 million advance for "Tha Carter V" and an additional $2 million from the label once he completed the album and that he would allow them to still release the album if they paid him the money they reportedly owe him. There has been no official or on the record confirmation of this claim.
