T-Pain Goes Without Auto-Tune On New Song 'Say the Word (I'm Gone)' (Recap)

.
On Thursday T-Pain Goes Without Auto-Tune On New Song 'Say the Word (I'm Gone)' was a top story. Here is the recap: (Radio.com) By now the 'Wow, T-Pain can actually sing!" crowd have had their moment, after his now-famous NPR concert. Hopefully that conversation--which devalues the incredible contributions he made to pop as the foremost pioneer of Auto-Tune exploration, paving the way for everyone from Kanye to Chief Keef--won't play a part in the universal praise that deserves to be heaped on his latest song, called 'Say The Word (I'm Gone)."

In lieu of Auto-Tune, T-Pain creates a lush bed using only his own voice, showcased in the spare music video: just him, in all four corners of the screen, harmonizing with himself. A simple, mournful piano provides the foundation for his searching, gospel-tinged melodies.

The song is about the quest for love, which sometimes leads to frustrating places: "Why do we do this? Why do we chase after dreams?" he croons. This song comes off of T-Pain's long-awaited fifth album Stoicville: The Phoenix, in stores soon--or, so they say, but no release date has been nailed down.
