(Radio.com) The saga continues. With only months to go before the grand unveiling of Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens , which premieres this December, another new anthology film in the Star Wars universe was announced Tuesday (July 7), focusing on the background story of Han Solo.
The two directors tapped to helm the film are Christopher Miller and Phil Lord, whose credits include The LEGO Movie, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and both 21 Jump Street and 22 Jump Street.

'We promise to take risks, to give the audience a fresh experience, and we pledge ourselves to be faithful stewards of these characters who mean so much to us," the two directors say in a statement about the project. "This is a dream come true for us. And not the kind of dream where you're late for work and all your clothes are made of pudding, but the kind of dream where you get to make a film with some of the greatest characters ever, in a film franchise you've loved since before you can remember having dreams at all."

The screenplay for the new film is being written by Lawrence Kasdan (Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Big Chill) and his son Jon Kasdan (Freaks and Geeks), and it focuses on how a young Han Solo becomes the person that Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi encounter in the cantina at Mos Eisley back in the original Star Wars movie.
