Smash Mouth Singer Goes On Epic Rant After Being Pelted With Bread

(Radio.com) Smash Mouth are not to be messed with, if their tirade at a recent concert is any indication. You might have forgotten if you only knew them from their cuddly early 2000s hits, but the band came out in 1997 with a debut album called Fush Yu Mang. That title was certainly in the spirit of their outburst over the weekend at a concert in Fort Collins, Colo.

Attendees at the Taste Of Fort Collins street festival were all given complementary loaves of bread. This turned out to be a rather misguided attempt to demonstrate the flavors of the local baking community, because most attendees did not eat their loaves. Rather, in the tradition of hordes of peasants going back to the dark ages, they launched them at the jesters on stage.

Steve Harwell, lead singer of Smash Mouth, did not take kindly to hundreds of Coloradans throwing free whole wheat at him and his bandmates. As any of us might do, he lost any vestige of chill and began screaming at the audience. He threatened to jump into the crowd and had to be held back by security.
