Pharrell Warns of 'Blurred Lines' Verdict Repercussions


. (Radio.com) Pharrell has broken his silence--save for a catch-all press statement last week--on the "Blurred Lines" verdict. Speaking to The Financial Times (via Hot New Hip-Hop), the singer, rapper and producer expressed his frustration at the outcome of the lawsuit, saying that the ruling sets a bad precedent for he and other artists out there, especially those who oftentimes take from something older to make something new.

And that may not just pertain to music, either. "The verdict hampers any creator out there who who is making something that might be inspired by something else," he said. "This applies to fashion, music, design' anything.

"If we lose our freedom to be inspired, we're going to look up one day and the entertainment industry as we know it will be frozen in litigation. Everything that's around you in a room was inspired by something or someone," he added. "If you kill that, there's no creativity." Read more here.
