Nile Rodgers Premieres New Chic Video 'I'll Be There'
. Nile Rodgers has premiered a music video for Chic's new single "I'll Be There," which is the first taste fans are getting of the veteran group's first new album in 23 years. Rodgers premiered the "I'll Be There" video, which features supermodel Karlie Kloss and was directed by fashion photographer duo, Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, on Facebook on Friday. Rodgers explains why he picked the social media site for the premiere, "Since I started my blog after the cancer diagnosis, I've felt that Facebook users feel like friends coming over to your house for a visit. In the world of social media Facebook feels more like family and the story behind CHIC's record is deeply personal." The track comes from the group's new studio album "It's About Time," which will be released in June. Rodgers explained the album concept in a website posting, "Four years ago I was stricken with very aggressive cancer and I wasn't sure how much time I had left. I decided the album's concept would be about time and I'd feature as many people from the lifespan of Chic that I could on it." He elaborated even more on Facebook when he posted the premiere of the video. He wrote, "#WorldPremiere!! #IllBeThere is a moving concept for me about decisions we make in life. We've tried to capture all the nuances in the full length video and still keep it fun. Karlie Kloss connects the past and present. She sees the original group (who plays this track) on Soul Train. She, visualizes the past looking at old school vinyl - then gets dressed and goes out to a current party to meet up with Stephen Galloway and the current #CHIC lineup happens to be playing live. I'm very thankful to be debuting it exclusively w Music on Facebook to the world. Here it is. I hope you like it." Watch the video here.
