AC/DC's Phil Rudd Speaks Out For First Time Since Guilty Plea

(hennemusic) Phil Rudd wants to return to AC/DC, but the drummer says he's been unable to reach anyone from the band since his legal troubles began in New Zealand last fall.

"I wrote them a letter, I tried to get in contact with Angus... I've had no contact with anybody," Rudd tells Australia's A Current Affair. "I'm very disappointed, yeah. But that's life," adding, "You know who your friends are, really."

After Rudd recorded "Rock Or Bust" with AC/DC in Vancouver last year, the band hired former member Chris Slade to handle drum duties in his place for the group's world tour, which launched on April 10 at Coachella. "I'm sure they're having a great old time," says Rudd. "I'm sure they're really enjoying playing. I'm sure it really sounds great."

Last month, Rudd pleaded guilty to drug charges and threatening to kill a former assistant at a hearing in Tauranga District Court; he could face up to seven years in jail when he returns for his June 26 sentencing.

"You make your own mistakes and it was a mistake of the charges. We all make mistakes," explains the drummer. "I've seen the errors of my ways... It's onward and upward from here." Read more here.
