Duran Duran Receive MTV EMAs Video Visionary Award

(Radio.com) Duran Duran received a new award on Sunday night's (Oct. 25) MTV EMAs at the Mediolanum Forum in Milan, Italy. The long-running group was on hand to accept the MTV Video Visionary Award.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new award honors music pioneers who have made an undeniable impact on music videos throughout the history of the art form.

MTV released a statement saying that the British band's 'sound and strong visual sense have influenced a generation and continue to vibe with music fans the world over."

Duran Duran released the following statement about the honor to The Hollywood Reporter: 'It is no coincidence that our rise was paralleled by the growth and ultimate world domination of MTV. The birth of music videos as a way to simultaneously bring our music to a global audience revolutionized the business. We took this new short form of filmmaking and tried to make it our own."
