The longstanding New Year's Eve television special has tapped Underwood as the headliner for this year's broadcast that will be taking place live from Times Square in New York City.

Carrie had the following to say about headlining the event, "There's nowhere else I'd rather be than New York's Times Square, one of the most magical places in the world, to ring in the New Year. It's going to be a memorable night, and I can't wait to celebrate with the world!"

The broadcast's host Ryan Seacrest adds, "The first time I heard Carrie sing, I knew she would be a superstar, and each year she continues to dominate the charts. I can't wait to see her rock Times Square and ring in 2016 as our headliner."
