(hennemusic) David Bowie's 1972 classic, "Starman", provides the soundtrack to a Super Bowl 50 commercial for Audi and the full ad as well as an extended version, have both been posted online

Adweek reports the ad tells the story of a retired astronaut who rediscovers his passion for life - and powerful machines - when his son lets him drive the 2017 Audi R8 V10 Plus.

Entitled "The Commander", the commercial will be seen during the first quarter of this Sunday's game between the Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, CA.

"Starman" was enjoying a renaissance even before Bowie's death from cancer on January 10. The tune was played in full during a sequence of Ridley Scott's space film The Martian.

The lead single from 1972's "The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars", "Starman" peaked at No. 65 on the US Billboard Hot 100 while the classic album hit No. 21 on the Billboard 200 and was a Top 5 record in the singer's native UK. Check out both versions of the commercial and the original track here.
