(Radio.com) R&B upstart BJ the Chicago Kid rang in the new year by celebrating one of his biggest musical inspirations D'Angelo. BJ paid tribute to D'Angelo by releasing a cover of his biggest hit "Untitled (How Does It Feel)" on it's 16th anniversary. The song, which turned D'Angelo into a household name, is featured alongside BJ's interpretations of other D'Angelo songs "Always In My Hair" and "Send It On." The EP runs roughly eight minutes and is produced by Jairus "JMO' Mozee.

"His musicality is beyond this world. I had to celebrate his genius by paying homage to his legacy while he continues to kill the game and make great music," said Kid in a prepared statement. "It's a new year and what better way to start it off than taking it back to where it all began for me. This is real soul/R&B."

D'Angelo was recently nominated for a Grammy for his comeback album Black Messiah. Check out BJ the Chicago Kid's renditions of some D'Angelo classics here.
