(Radio.com) Degrassi, the Canadian teen soap phenomenon, has been going strong since 1987 with legions of loyal fans through multiple generations. Recently, the show's legacy has grown even deeper with Drake's ascension to rap game dominance.

Despite having moved onto bigger and better things, producers of the latest Netflix incarnation of Degrassi say Drake's always welcome back to his Alma mater.

"He came out and gave us the biggest bear hugs and wanted to know how we were doing," she said. "He was with the show eight years. We say very fondly that we gave him his first job in show business We knew he was [rapping on the side] so we said, 'Do you want an opportunity to rap on this show?' and he did."

Drake even gets a shout-out in the new season, titled Degrassi: Next Class. Read more here.
