Slash Shares Joe Perry Les Paul Guitar Story In New Film

(Gibson) Lots of guitar aficionados know the story of how Slash surprised Aerosmith's Joe Perry by returning Perry's long-lost Les Paul to him as a birthday gift.

In the forthcoming film, Turn It Up!, Slash offers new details, explaining that when he first saw the instrument pictured on the interior of Aerosmith's 1978 album, Live! Bootleg, he thought it was the coolest guitar he had ever seen.

"This was during my 'discovering Les Pauls' period," he says. Perry sold the guitar, but years later, when the opportunity arose, Slash bought the legendary instrument-for $8,000-and eventually he returned it to Perry. Read more here.
