Allman Brothers In The Studio For Fillmore East 45th Anniversary: Allman Brothers News
.
On Wednesday Allman Brothers In The Studio For Fillmore East 45th Anniversary was a top story. Here is the recap: (ITS) The latest episode of the syndicated radio show In The Studio: The Stories Behind History's Greatest Rock Bands celebrates the 45th anniversary of The Allman Brothers Band's iconic live album "At the Fillmore East". The show sent over these details: By 1971 the Allman Brothers Band were on a roll with their second album, Idlewild South, breaching the Top 40 sales plateau for the first time, and bandleader Duane Allman had by then recorded the now legendary Layla album with Eric Clapton as Derek and the Dominos, resulting in Duane's quick ascension as a premiere slide guitar player. In March of that year the Allmans would perform four shows over two nights at New York's Fillmore East, as well as the venue's closing night in late June. All of these shows were recorded and select tracks were released as the band's third album At Fillmore East in July 1971, becoming the Allman Brothers Band's first Top 10 album. Singer, songwriter, and organist Gregg Allman and former Allman Brothers guitarist Dickey Betts recall the magic of those original band shows at the New York City Fillmore East. Gregg Allman shares with InTheStudio host Redbeard his first reaction upon seeing the new band his big brother had put together. "I'd been away from my brother for eleven months, and during that time he'd learned how to play slide guitar... He'd gotten real good. So I go there and there's two full sets of drums, two lead guitar players, and a bass player, and I'm thinking, 'This is going to be either real good or real bad'. But knowing my brother, I figured it was going to be good. I didn't figure it was going to be that good!" - Gregg Allman Stream the episode - here.
