: DMX Goes to Jail.

Rapper
DMX is back in the news. In March a warrant was issued for his arrest after
he failed to appear in court. On Wed, May 3rd, the rapper turned himself
in to police in Ceektowage, N.Y.
He
was quickly arraigned where he pled guilty to driving on a suspended license
charge and was sentenced to serve 15 days in jail. In addition to the suspended
license charge, the rapper was fined for various other violations including:
$100 for possession of marijuana, $200 for failing to have a driver's
license, $50 for two parking violations, plus $30 in a court surcharge.
DMX
gets our “You dumbass” award for the week because he apparently had marijuana
hidden in a pack of cigarettes he had in his possession. The pot was found
while he was being processed to serve his jail term at the Erie County
Correctional Facility located in Alden, N.Y. The rapper was brought before
the judge once again and fined an additional $250 for the possession of
marijuana. Next time dump the drugs before turning yourself into
the cops, dude!
Update
DMX was released on bail May 4th pending an appeal of his sentencing of 15 days in jail. DMX's lawyer won an appeal on the claim the jail sentence was excessive. 15 days excessive? He is lucky he only got fined an extra $250 bucks for having pot on him when he turned himself in. His lawyers said simply that the experience was "embarrassing". On the bright side for DMX, he can now rap about the hard time he did in jail, all 24 hours of it.
