We have some bad news for fans expecting to see Slashs Snakepit open for AC/DC on the current North American Tour. Slash has been forced to cancel the remaining dates on the tour due to a bout with pneumonia.
Slashs current band Slashs Snakepit toured with AC/DC last year on the first leg of their North American Stiff Upper Lip tour and was hoping to reach fans who missed them on the first outing. However, it became apparent that the pneumonia was going to prevent that from happening after the band was unable to take the stage during the two recent concerts in Florida. Slash issued a statement this week explaining why he had to pullout; "I apologize to the fans and to AC/DC, but I don't want to get up there and do a half-ass show. I hate to let people down, but it wouldn't be right to give them a performance that's anything less than our best."
At this time a replacement has not been confirmed for the opening slot on the tour. However, a representative from Elektra has informed us that the Canadian blues-rock trio, Wide Mouth Mason, will fill some of the dates on the tour. Rumor has it that Buckcherry might be called in to fill the remaining dates, but at this point that is only a rumor.
