Fans and musicians will be on hand May 19th at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City for the "Life's a Gas - Joey Ramone's Birthday Bash."
The bash has been arranged to be a tribute to Ramone, the legendary punk pioneer who lost his life to cancer on Easter Sunday. Ramone would have been 50 years old. Artists scheduled to appear at the event include The Cramps, The Misfits, Cheap Trick, Bellvue, Blondie, Stop (Features Joeys brother Mickey Leigh) and the Independents.
Tickets for the event quickly sold out and more guest stars are expected to join the roster.
Ramone has left his indelible mark on rock-n-roll
with his no nonsense approach to songwriting and performing. His band the
Ramones burst on to the scene in the 70s and became the pioneers of punk
rock. As with every generation of bands since the 70s, Joeys music, attitude
and influence still lives on today with new bands being inspired by his
raw style and energy.
