There are various reports. Some witness have stated that fans grew angry after hearing that the concert would not go on and began fighting, throwing bottles and chairs and ripping up plants at the venue. But officials at the First Union Center in Philadelphia denied these reports.
AP reported the following, A spokesman for the arena operator said officials were called shortly after 11 p.m. Friday and told one member of Guns N' Roses was ill, and that the band would not be able to perform. He said he did not know which member was sick.
Members of the audience, while unhappy, left in an orderly fashion, he said. He said police were called only as a precaution.
The sold-out concert drew an estimated 14,000 fans.
After the previous last minute cancellation in Vancouver after Axl failed to show up on time and the promoter pulled the plug, Axl Rose, who has a history of calling off concerts at the last minute, put the blame squarely on the promoters shoulder.
Some fans have taken to calling this new incarnation of Guns N Roses, Guns N Riot due to the sometimes violent reaction of disappointed fans who show up to arenas to see the group only to be told the show will not go on.
Not many facts are known at press time about the reported violence that followed this cancellation. We do know that no arrests were reported. It should be interesting to hear the GNR camp's spin on this within the next couple of days.
