Erasure - Light at the End of the World Review

by Sherrill Fulghum

.
For over 20 years the duo known as Erasure has been creating synth pop music. Formed in 1985 by Depeche Mode founding member Vince Clark and the ever flamboyant singer Andy Bell. Erasure has risen far above the electronic and house music popular today. Long before Sir Elton John, George Michael, or Freddie Mercury came out to the world Bell was one of the first pop musicians who was openly gay.

Erasure's latest musical release "Light at the End of the World" is a collection of songs that is more than something to dance to; they are a collection of complicated musical tracks and coherent lyrics offered up by Bell. While the lyrics may not always make a whole lot of sense, they are at least understandable.

The music of Erasure is called synth pop but has elements of electronic and new age as well. Fans of Depeche Mode and The Pet Shop Boys will find some similarities in musical style and sound.

"Light at the End of the World" is a collection of 10 songs of nearly 38 minutes of music to enjoy and challenge the skills of the listener to pick up the multiple layers of music being played at the same time.

With Vince Clark's keyboard and programming skills along with the voice of Andy Bell the duo provides a unique sound that is Erasure.
