Kiff - You Can't Keep it Down Review

by Sherrill Fulghum

.
The latest member in the crop of new piano playing pop stars that began across the pond with Jesse Cullum is San Francisco's Christopher "Kiff" Gallagher. In 2003 Kiff did the unthinkable for most successful businessmen; he left a career in public service to play music.

As a teen Kiff taught himself to play the piano. And he composed music during high school and college. Kiff played music by night while working on President Bill Clinton's presidential campaign by day. Since returning to music full time Kiff has played to sold out shows and opened for Aqualung and Gavin DeGraw.

"You Can't Keep it Down" is Kiff's second album. The album of eleven songs grabs you right from the beginning with the fast paced opening track "Now". The album is a mix of pretty love songs and up beat tunes for rocking out and dancing.

Kiff's music is a little different from the radio airplay heard today but is well worth the effort to listen to. Not since the early days of Billy Joel and Sir Elton John has there been music by piano playing rockers available today.

Why should the guitar players have all the fun?
