Lek - Giant World Knowledge Bliss Control Review

by Dan MacIntosh

.
Gregory 'Lek' Padrusch is one strange cat. When Padrusch recites personal poetry over Jimi Hendrix-like electric guitar soloing during "Quixotic," it sounds like modern day Doors music.

Lek shows a gentler side with "Post Travelin' Blues", where acoustic guitar provides the backing for a folk tune. "Elephants Parade" also rocks easily to an acoustic guitar groove. And he's not above doing straight rock-pop either, as "Fuzzworld amply proves. He plays most all the instruments and sings every vocal, but is also helped by a few folks. For example, Meg Baird provides angelic vocals to "Fuzzworld".

Giant World Knowledge Bliss Control is not easy listening music. Instead, this is the uneasy musings of a poet/musician. It may be good-weird or just plain weird. But it's definitely weirdness of some sort.
