Savannah Stopover Festival and Snowball Music Festival

.
Savannah Stopover Festival
Savannah, Georgia, March 7-9

This festival is called the Stopover because it takes place the weekend before the massive South by Southwest Festival (SXSW) in Austin, Texas, and many of the groups that are on their way to the Lone Star State "stopover" for a show as they pass through Savannah. And wow are there a bunch of cool acts participating this year, including Chelsea Light Moving featuring Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth, the Whigs, Turbo Fruits, Blessed Feathers, Ponderosa, the Coathangers, PUJOL, Jacco Gardner, Country Mice, the Wild Feathers, Lee Bains III & the Glory Fires and many others. On opening night Georgia's very own of Montreal performs a free show in Savannah's historic Forsyth Park and similarly to SXSW there will be beer and barbecue parties all over. Savannah has liberal open container laws so you can swig an adult beverage as you walk from venue to venue; reasonably-priced pedicab rides are available too. www.savannahstopover.com and www.visitsavannah.com

Snowball Music Festival
Winter Park, Colorado, March 8-10

The Snowball Music Festival is about to heat up the chilly slopes of Winter Park with three days of music provided by the likes of Flying Lotus, Delta Spirit, Krewella, Japandroids, Polica and Tennis. And that's just for starters; also on the bill are Pretty Lights, Big Gigantic, Portugal the Man, STS9, Robert Randolph & the Family Band and Kendrick Lamar. All in all about 65 acts will perform this year and there'll also be fireworks displays, three-dimensional film installations, action sports elements and more. Packages that include a night's lodging and discounted ski lift tickets are available.
