Katie Burden - Strange Moon

.
On the track "Cut The Wire," Katie Burden sounds like a true chanteuse. Singing what sounds like something coming out of a ramped up cabaret, Burden wrings every ounce of emotion from the song. And yet, she can switch gears and be as gentle as a kitten, which happens on the very next track, "Ears."

With an approach that many times brings Florence and the Machine to mind, Burden seemingly doesn't buy into any emotional half measures. When she feels something, she feels it and expresses it loudly and overtly. Burden was raised by hippies, and you can easily pick up on the free, mystical spirit in her approach to creating music. She doesn't make music; she creates epics.

Strange Moon is an album that twists and turns like an unpredictable stream. She's on a journey with no set destination, and she just wants us along for the ride.
